Data Collection & Usage

What personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we retain it.

Last updated: March 28, 2026

1. Information You Provide Directly

We collect personal information you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password, phone number, username
  • Profile Information: Professional skills, work experience, education, certifications, bio, location, timezone
  • Identification Information: Government-issued ID for verification purposes (processed securely and not stored permanently)
  • Communication Data: Messages, chat conversations, AI Copilot conversation logs and prompt history, inquiries, support requests, feedback, reviews
  • Payment & Financial Information: Billing address and payment method details (processed by third-party payment processors - we do not store full payment card numbers), Finprob credits balance, and subscription tier data
  • Portfolio & Work Samples: Code repositories, project files, work samples, Proof of Work submissions
  • Assessment Data: Loevech assessment responses and results, SwitchAsses scoring data and evaluation outcomes, resume and cover letter content, job applications
  • Company Information: Business name, industry, company size, job postings (for employer accounts)

2. Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, time spent, click patterns, search queries, navigation paths
  • Device Information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen resolution, device identifiers
  • Location Data: Approximate geographic location based on IP address (we do not collect precise GPS location)
  • Referral Data: How you arrived at our Platform (referral URLs, search engine keywords, marketing campaign identifiers)
  • Log Data: Server logs, access times, error reports, and debugging information
  • Cookies and Tracking: See our Cookie & Tracking Policy for details

3. Information from Third Parties

We may receive information from:

  • OAuth Providers: When you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. When you sign in via GitHub, we receive your username, public repositories, and commit history (used for Proof of Work verification). When you sign in via HuggingFace, we receive your models and datasets (used for Proof of Work verification).
  • Payment Processors: Transaction confirmation, billing status, and fraud signals from Stripe, PayPal, and other processors
  • Identity Verification Services: Verification results and confidence scores (not raw identity documents)
  • Public Sources: Publicly available professional information from GitHub, HuggingFace, and similar platforms you connect
  • Employer Partners: Application status updates, feedback, and onboarding information from employers you apply to through our Platform

3.1 REWORK Proof (GitHub App and Action)

REWORK Proof examines pull requests on repositories where you install our GitHub App, or where you add our GitHub Action to a workflow. What it reads and what we keep are deliberately different things.

  • Read from the repository: commit metadata only - the cryptographic signature state GitHub records for each commit, the GitHub account (if any) GitHub resolved the commit author to, and co-author trailers written in the commit message.
  • Stored by REWORK: counts and identifiers only - the number of commits examined, signed, human co-authored, automation-authored and AI-disclosed; the repository name; the pull request number; the head commit SHA; and the installation identifier.
  • Never stored: your source code, commit messages, diffs, or file paths. These are read in memory to produce counts and are not retained.
  • Made public only on request: a repository badge showing how many pull requests have been checked. This is off by default and switched on per repository by the account that installed the App.
  • Sent to third parties: when you request a signed attestation from the Action, the digest of that credential may be submitted to public OpenTimestamps calendars for timestamping. A digest is a one-way hash and reveals nothing about your repository.

Uninstalling the App stops new records. Existing records remain visible to the account that linked the installation until deletion is requested.

3.2 Rework Pool and Platinum Partner

Rework Pool matches businesses with vetted experts, and Platinum Partner is its invite-only tier. Because the product exists to introduce two parties to each other, some information is shared between them by design - and we would rather state exactly when.

  • From businesses: the brief or automation audit you submit, company details, budget range, and the deposit and billing information required to open an engagement.
  • From experts: profile, verified proofs, availability, rates, and delivery history including outcomes of previous engagements.
  • Shared on a match: a business sees the shortlisted expert's profile and verified work; an expert sees the brief and the business identity. Neither is shared before a match is made.
  • Retained for the engagement record: messages exchanged on the Platform, delivered artifacts, hours recorded, and payment status - which together form the record used to resolve any dispute.
  • Platinum Partner additionally: the application and vetting assessment you submit for the tier, and the outcome of that review.

5. Disclosure of Information

We may disclose your personal information to the following categories of recipients:

Third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, payment processing, email, customer support, AI services) under contractual obligations to protect your information and use it only for specified purposes.

5.2 Other Users

Depending on your role and privacy settings: employers may see candidate profiles, and candidates may see employer profiles and service provider information necessary for service delivery.

  • Dispute resolution: Data relevant to pending or potential legal claims

  • Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained indefinitely

When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it in accordance with our data retention schedule and applicable legal requirements.

7. Sensitive Information

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (also known as "special categories of data") such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health data, sexual orientation, or biometric data for identification purposes.

If any user-submitted content (such as profile descriptions) inadvertently contains sensitive information, it is your responsibility to omit such information. We are not liable for sensitive data you voluntarily include in your profile or communications.
